Whitley Symphonic Band is conducted by Mr Ed Tan Heo Tian solely, with the assistance of the band major, Pang Kok Yang, the drum major, Bryan Han and all the other leaders. With all the hard work they have put in and the encouragement from the teachers-in-charge & the school, this enthusiastic bunch managed to attained silver for Singapore Youth Festival 2009. Despite the endless change of conductors, these young musicians continue to strive for excellence in playing, to play out their great interest in music. The band's goal is to push their limits to the maximum & stretched their potential in every means to achieve a gold award for the Singapore Youth Festival in 2011. In relation to their motto, 'Because we can, we must'; they put all their efforts and skills they have learnt so far to play their very best in everything they do.

For those who don't know how to go , please meet up outside school . Time is 7am . Those who do not have edusave , please pay $30 cash to Bryan by Thursday . We're supposed to register at the venue 20 minutes before the commencement of their workshop .

5. It's strongly encouraged to go for the Junior Band Festival . Tickets are priced $5 . Please let me know whether you're going by Thursday with the money also . It's really strongly encourage , support our juniors and Mr Koh . As he'll be leaving us after this .. We're planning a farewell party for him , so is there any ideas ? West Winds will showcase works by Yagisawa, Sparke, Barnes and Arnold under the baton of ME5 Philip Tng & Mr Yasuhide Ito. This includes a newly edited version of First Suite in E-flat by Ito based on Holst''''s original manuscripts.

By 10 August , Tuesday , must know how to be in tune , be able to paly with the harmony director & the metronome . Also , must know how to play Gates of Orion . There will be a test on that day . Every junior is suposed to come up with a solo and it will be tested on the spot , one by one . For those who pass the test , the next band practice which is thursday is to join the main band for practice . As for those who did not pass , will be staying in Junior Band until he / she passes the test . There will be 1 winner and will decide the punishments for the two weakest juniors . For the two weakest juniors , the whole section will have to sign 1 extra .
